Parents always think they know what is right for their kids, even if their kids don’t want to follow the path their parents made for them. Kevin’s parents were no different. They wanted him to follow in his father’s footsteps and take over and run the farm. But that was the last thing Kevin wanted.

He was tired of the rural country life, there is nothing much to do but watch the crops grow. Worse of all, all the old ladies gossiped constantly about everyone else’s business. Heck, you couldn’t piss in a bucket without having the news spread all over town before you were even finished pulling up your zipper!

No way was he going to live the rest of his life in this cesspool. He tried to explain this to his parents, but his mother just continually cried, and his father wouldn’t listen and only got madder and madder.

Soon his father stood up, pointed to the door and yelled  Get the hell out!’ That was the last words his father spoke to him and Kevin’s last words were to his mother, ‘Love you mom, I’m sorry.’

With only the clothes on his back, he left the farm. He stopped at the bank to cash out his saving and headed to the train station. But where would he go? He didn’t care as long as it was far away from this place.

As he approached the ticket booth at the train station, he noticed a sign . . .

A sparkle lit in Kevin’s eyes and the next thing he knew, he had bought a one-way ticket.

From this day forward, Kevin’s life will never be the same.
